Though the game is not yet over, the disappointment has already set in. The score stands at 27-3 with more than 10 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. Our offense has continued to put our defense in holes they can't overcome. The time of possession margin is overwhelmingly in favor of the Volunteers. The defense is playing their hearts out right now, holding UT to 3 field goal attempts. They have just been out on the field for so long, they are starting to wear down. And in the SEC, the athletes are too good to be stuck out on the field for near twice as long as the opposition. Too many times in the first half did we pass on first down leaving our offense in a hole instead of giving the ball to the best player in the country. Play calling has been a problem for the last two years. Just an example this game would be the 4th down FB dive call and the best player in the country is on the sideline. What is the thought process? Does the other team think that we are going to throw the ball effectively enough to where they don't have to stack the line? We had a legitimate opportunity to beat Tennessee. This feeling is nothing new though for Arkansas fans. We all know that we have the talent to compete with the upper echelon competition in the SEC. However, it seems to me that there is something holding us back from taking that next step. Mediocrity shouldn't be the standard at Arkansas. We should be satisfied with nothing less than an SEC championship game birth year in and year out. Til next time.
