No Brady Bunch

November 11, 2007 22:07 by Pigskin_Webb

The biggest story in April was the slide of Brady Quinn to pick #22 in the NFL Draft.  Labeled as a top 5 draft pick, his draft day manerisms are well documented.  Maybe what is noticed more is how the "Golden Boy"  has taken a backseat to a backup, nearly cut in the off-season, playmaker from Oregon State in Derek Anderson.  Anderson, coming into todays games was the 9th rated passer in the league.  Ever since the opening day debacle against Pittsburgh, who they again lost to today, the Browns have turned themselves into a playoff contending team, led by the aforementioned Anderson, all-everything WR Braylon Edwards and playmaking tight end Kellen Winslow Jr.  Wasn't it in week 1 that there were grumbles of having Romeo Crennel fired. Now, instead of talks of firing Crennel, there are talks of naming him NFL Coach of the Year.  As for Quinn, he is still the Browns QB of the future, but will this be the only year he has to sit out?  Anderson is an un-restricted free agent after this year and is sure to make a pretty penny after this season.  Will the Browns go for him?  Probably not.  They don't want to pay big money to two quarterbacks on their roster.  It is going to be an interesting off-season for Mr. Anderson.  But first, let's see how the rest of the season turns out for the Browns.
